Creative design aims to reconnect police department with community

Jeffersonville, IN – The City of Jeffersonville sought to reinforce the police department’s connection with the community it serves. With scattered facilities spread across the city, the police department was unable to have an identifiable landmark the community could recognize. Through creative design, careful site selection, and rigorous future planning, the city offers a new visible facility to represent a beacon of safety within the community.

TEG Architects worked collaboratively with city officials to develop the freestanding headquarters. The 35,000 sq. ft. facility includes an administration wing, community policing department, emergency options center, dispatch, armory, agility gym, and evidence lab with secure storage areas. By placing strategic and secure entries, TEG optimized workflow and reduced staff travel time. The site is protected with two access points and a perimeter fence designed to provide a high level of security with constant visibility.
