Joining the fight against hunger

Louisville, KY – TEG Architects supports a multitude of worthy causes. Most recently, the firm was involved in CANstruction, a competition of teams comprised of professionals from the AEC industry who create large structures made entirely out of cans of food.  These structures are displayed as a giant art exhibition at Mall St. Matthews and judged by various categories by a selected panel as well as the public.  Once the competition commences, the food is donated to Louisville’s Dare to Care Food Bank.

This year, the TEG team built a figure resembling a character that’s no stranger to hunger – Cookie Monster.  The team utilized more than 3,500 cans of tuna; gaining the award for most cans. The team was also presented the top award of People’s Choice. In past competitions, the firm was selected for this award by constructing the 2011 “Knocking Out Hunger,” a Muhammad Ali Structure, and 2013 “Hunger’s in the Dog House,” featuring Snoopy atop his well-known red doghouse.

The TEG team consisted of the following staff: Brandi Jones, Ida Wrocklage, Charles Crochet, Matt Phillips, David Bratcher, Louis Seidel, George Morse, Maggie Morse, Ella Morse, Autumn Patrick, Miles Travis, Nicole Schendl, John Sprouls, Will Sprouls, Drake Mulcahy and Joel Wallace.

Collectively, the competing teams provided more than 24,480 non-perishable food items to Dare to Care – directly benefiting those who may be food insecure in our community.
